THE ETNA ERUPTION
DRAWING TO A CLQSE. EXAGGERATED REPORTS. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, June 24. The Morning Post’s home correspondent says: “It is now realised how absurdly exaggerated have been the accounts of the eruption at Mount Etna. The net result is none killed and 400 persons rendered homeless. The total damage is 70,000,000 lire. Many of the owners of the destroyed property are multi-million-aires. The lava stream is diminishing and the intensity of the eruption is drawing to a close.’ —A. and N.Z. Cable.
