SUDAN UNITED MISSION.

MAHOMETAN RELATIONS. The thirteenth annual meeting of the Australian and New Zealand branch of the Sudan United Mission was held at the Collins Street Independent Church, Melbourne, on June 13. In his address, the chairman, Mr F. J. Cato, reviewed the history of tho mission at headquarters in England, and of the actual work upon the field. Mr C. Joynt spoke on behalf of the younger members, as represented in the Young Crusaders’ League, and tho general secretary for Australasia, Mr C. F. A. Saxby, spoke of the work of the lust year. The most important event of the evening was an address by the Rev. J. W. Burton on ihe position of the Mahometan, with which sect tho mission came much in contact, and the general attitude of that body to the advance of Christianity. Things were not as bad as were generally made out, and there was fresh hope for Christian enterprise with many of the former difficulties removed. Dr R. Trudinger, who had recently left tho field at Melut, Sudan, on furlough, gave interesting details of the medical side of the mission, and of tlie influence of medical work as an evangelising medium.
