RAVENSBOURNE AMENITIES’ SOCIETY.
ANNUAL MEETING. The first annual meeting of the Raven** bourne Amenities Society was held in the local Coronation Hall last night, when, in spite of the unfavourable weather, there was a fairly large attendance. Mr E E. Moller presided. Mr A. Bathgate, Mornington, wrote stating that he had read the society’s report with interest and much pleasure, as evidencing that the society had made a very good start in every way. The amount £22 2s representing subscriptions was a very creditable sum for such a small community, and relatively it was considerably greater than that enjoyed by the parent society in Dunedin. He congratulated the society on its success, which he trusted would continue for many years, for such a society not merely added to the beauty and pleasantness of the locality, but also tended to foster public spirit in the inhabitants. Ho enclosed a contribution towards the good work. —The letter was received. Mr W. R. Don, in moving the adoption of the annual report, stated that ho noticed that Mr Felix Mitchell was not mentioned in the report. Surely Mr Mitchell, the energetic secretary, should be mentioned, as much of the success of the society waa due to his efforts.—(“Hear, hear.”) Mr A. Williamson seconded the motion, which was carried. Mr W. Connor remarked that Mr Don, who also had done much for the society, seemed to have been overlooked. Mr Don worked hal'd in the interests of the society,' —(“Hear, hear.’’) The election of officers resulted as follows:—President, Mr H. E. Moller; vicepresidents—Messrs T. Ross, W. R. Don, and A. Bathgate; committee—Mr A. Williamson (chairman), Mcsdames C. Anderson and E. Mullonger, Messrs J. Robb, W. Barker; C. French, A. Gilchrist, W. Connor. -A. Grubb, J. Low, J. Cranefield, G. J. Ernngw ton, E. Monk, J. Baird, J. Kaye, and J. Rowell; secretary and treasurer, Mr Felix Mitchell; auditor, Mr W. G. Gale. > In according a vote of thanks to the retiring office-bearers the chairman said that if the forthcoming year proved as successful as the past the society would make great progress.
