SHOTS REVEAL GHOST.
WOMAN’S ESCAPADE. NIGHTDRESS ON A STICK, f INCIDENT IN VICTORIA. Avoca, a small country town in Victoria, has been terrified of late by a “ghost." A daring resident, Mr A. P. Joseph, now avers that he has settled the test in the ghost, with whom ho had a sensational experience. Armed with a magazine rifle, he waited on several nights in a bank o( fern where the ghost usually appeared. There was no appearance of the unearthly visitor for some nights, but one Sunday night his patience was rewarded, A whbe object showed itself. He fired four shots, and a feminine voice screamed out. “For God’s sake don’t shoot me!” Ho ceased firing, and went toward the white object. None of the bullets had reached it. He came upon a, young woman who was weeping bittorlv. After rebuking her for her foolishness, Mr Joseph got the woman to show how she prepared the "-host stunt. She showed him a piece of wood upon which she had fastened a white nightdress This she showed from behind the fern, and having frightened various folk, she dropped the stick and disappeared among the ferns
