Messrs Potter, Wilson, and Co.’s tender has boon accepted by the home agents for the conveyance of passengers from Glasgow to Otago at £l2 per adult, and that of Messrs Shaw, Saville, and Co. for carrying passengers from London to Otago at £l3 10s. Operations have been resumed on Mr Howarth’s colliery at Saddle Hill, leased by a party of gentlemen in Dunedin, and conducted by an experienced gentleman recently arrived from the Welsh collieries. The coal is said to be of an excellent quality and admirably adapted for house consumption and steam purposes.
