(Received May 28, at 8.25 p.m.) The Ministerial Council has decided to introduce a Bill amending the Constitu tion by creating a modified supreme tribunal which will be independent of political influences. It will be composed of 40 judges' in addition to senators.—A. and N.Z. Cable. WASHINGTON, May 28. (Received May 28, at 10.5 p.m.) A petition signed by 48 prominent Americans, including five State Governors, has been forwarded to Mr Harding, urging the release of all persons serving sentences in prison for political offences committed during the war. The petition points out that the belief is prevalent that the United States should not stoop to methods of Old World despotism in suppressing free speech.—A. and N.Z. Gable.
