COMMERCIAL TRAVELLERS’ CONCERT.

LADIES’ NIGHT. A ladies’ night was held in the club rooms, Dowling street, on Saturday, _ und the members and their wives and friends wore welcomed by the president (Mr H. F. Nees), who was also the host of the evening. He expressed pleasure at the large number present, which made for the social life of the association, and enabled the ladies to view the surroundings in which their menfolk found relaxation from business cares. The President apologised for the nbsen ’o of Mrs Astley Black, who was unable to sing owing to throat trouble. The musical programme arranged by the club’s choir of entertainers, under the conductorship of Mr G. J. Scott, \was • much appreciated, and the choir rendered several new partsongs.

Mrs W. R. Andrews, who is always an acquisition at club functions, together with Mrs W. J. Davidson, who most kindly replaced Mrs Black at . a moment’s notice, gave just the right/amount of diversity (o the programme, and their singing was a feature of the evening, and was suitably acknowledged. Bogg’s _ orchestra, under the baton of Mr T. Ritchie, was a welcome innovation, and its items were warmly applauded. As will be seen from the following programme the “Travellers” again proved that their talents are not confined to the “road.”

Davidson; duet, “Love and War,” Messrs M’Clelland and Hogg; song, Mrs W. R. Andrews; quartette, “Little Tommy,” party; song, “Can’t You Hoar Me Callin’, Caroline?” Mr C. King; partsong, “Evening,” Choir: selection, Begg’s Orchestra; part-song, “In a Gondola,” Choir; song. Mrs AV. J. Davidson; humorous item, Mr R. S. Wardrop; part-song, “The Woodchuck,” Choir; song. Mrs W. R. Andrews; song, “In Cellar Cool,” Mr A. Dempster; part-song. “Beleaguered,” Choir; selection, Begg's Orchestra. At the_ conclusion of the concert supper was provided by the president.
