SERIOUS CYCLING ACCIDENT

(Received March 4, at 5.5 p.m.) During the inter-Stat© amateur cycling championships, while the Five-mile Race was being run 16 riders fell, several being badly injured. The crowd alleged foul riding, and rushed the ground. An official announcement was then made that until an inquiry had been hold no placings would be recorded. After an inquiry it was decided that there had been no foul riding, and the race was awarded to Dempsey (New South Wales), with Broadbent (Victoria) second, and Maier (New South Wales) third. The One-mile Championship resulted as follows: Munro (Queensland) 1, Broadbent (Victoria) 2 r and Coppins (New South Wales) 3.
