ITALIAN FREEMASONS

FASGISTI CONDEMNATION. A CRISIS PRECIPITATED. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright ROME, March 1. (Received March 2, at 7.15 p.m.) The resignation en bloc of the City Council, including the mayor, was the result of the Fascist condemnation of Freemasonry. The council was elected in pre-Fascist days, and most of the members have Masonic sympathies. A crisis was precipitated by a Nationalist resolution that vacancies in important municpal offices should bo filled by Fascist!, or if this were impossible for technical reasons, the candidates should be compelled to swear they were not Freemasons. The ex-mayor, Signor Oremonesi, who enlisted in the Fascist! simultaneously with Signor Mussolini, will probably be appointed administrator of tbe city till a Solution of the crisis is found.—Reuter.
