OTAGO EXPANSION LEAGUE

At tlie Executive, Committee's meeting of the Otago . Expansion Eoague last night correspondence was reco.ved from the general manager of the Tourist Department on several matters of interest to the league and intimating that tile Mdfo*d track would bo clo=od on April 16, and all visitors must leave Glade House on the afternoon of that day. The President (Mr Cnas. Todd) reported the progress being made u'itn the inquiries as to the feasibility oi holding a Great Exhibition in Donoum in 1925, and outlined the questions which will come up for consideration in tne near future. —the repent was received and the president thanked lor his services.

The Railway Committee reported the continuance of the activity ou the deviation works for the northern railway approach, and the executive resolved to congratulate the Harbour Board upon the progress of the work, and express the hope that the same energy will be displayed during the coining year; so that the new approach to the city will bo in full working order prior to the opening of the crld i Exhibition in 1925.

The old saying “that imitation is iho sincerest. form of flattery” was exemplified by a letter from Te Kuiti, asking lor a report of the league’s prceedings, es^ pocially its method of meeting members of Parliament prior to the opening of the session, as several local bodies in that district were anxious to adopt a similar scheme. —The secretary was instructed :c forward the necessary information to this inquirer, aid also to a pressman from America, who wrote from the North Island for a budget covering the social, political, and labour problems of the dominion. As the league is a non-partisan body and carefully eschews the latter subjects, the inquirer from tlie States will be directed to the proper quarter for the knowledge he seeks.

The opportunity of advertising the dominion in the Geographical Magazine of .Washington,—the proprietors of which propose issuing a special New Zealand* number—was mentioned. and the league will communicate with (he Hon. W. Nosworthy on tlie subject. Parcels of the league's publications wore ordered to be forwarded to the Publicity Department, C.P.R..’ Montreal, and tlie U.S.S. Co. Agents, San Francisco.
