NORTH SEA TRAGEDY

ADRIFT IN OPEN BOATS

TWELVE MEN MISSING. Press Association—By Talcgraph—Copyright LONDON, February 28. A trawler landed at Lowestoft six members of the crew of the steamer Echo, after they had been for 14 hours adrift in open boats in tbs North Sea. They had only a tin of biscuits and a cask of water with them. They had to bale continuously because of the raging seas, and they were exhausted when rescued. The Echo, which was bound from Hamburg to England, collided in a thick fog with a steamer near Heligoland. Twelve men (including the captain and mate) axe missing. They were last seen launching boats.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
