OTAGO MOTOR CLUB
The ordinary monthly meeting of the Otago Motor Club was held in tho Returned Soldiers’ Association rooms last night, Mr H. H. Halliday occupying the chair. SPEEDING IN LAKE COUNTY.
Tho Clerk of the Lake County Council wrote informing the club that ‘at the last meeting of his council the following resolution was carried: —‘‘That the Otago Motor Association’s attention be drawn to the excessive speed at which motor cars at present travel on the many dangerous portions oi our roads, and that we ask your support in putting down this dangerous practice, otherwise this council will take drastic action It was decided to draw the attention of club members and others to the matter.
DEFACING SIGNS. Mr A. E. Ansell Raid that it had! been reported that danger signs were being defaced Such a practice should bo stopped. He suggested that the club forward a remit to the South Island Motor Union asking it to endeavour to secure legislation making the defacing of motor signs a penal offence. —The secretary was instructed to write to the South Island Motor Union accordingly. GENERAU. Seven new members were elected. The secretary of the club was instructed to forward a letter of thanks to the Dunedin Watorsido Workers’ Association for their kindness in entertaining the Chatham Island children.
Tho snerctary was instructed to write to Mrs J- U. I’ass more, thanking her for the donation of a mp In i>c awarded to the winner of a hill-climbing contest for motor cycles. Several members referred to the, benefit derived from the elubfs direction signs on tho Main North road, and it was decided to spend iloO on erecting sign-posts on ilro Main South road. Rules and conditions for tho elub races, to bo hold at Warrington Beach, on March lu, were adopted.
