HIS MAJESTY’S THEATRE

ROSINA BUCKMAN CONCERTS. Miss Rosina Buclcman and her conceit party made their second appearance at Ilia Majesty’s Theatre last, night, when they again submitted a programme which met with the full approval of the audience. Miss Buckman was in fine voice, and the repertoire she presented covered a wide range. Her opening number was the “Willow Song” and “Avo Maria” from “Otello” (with piano and organ accompaniment). Both pieces wore finely sung, the latter being given with deep devotional spirit. The singing of the prima donna was loudly applauded, and Musetta’s song from "La Boheme” and “Spinning” were given as encore numbers. On Miss i>uckman’s next appearance she sang “Ilefflo Cuckoo Fair” (Martin Shaw), “Butterfly Wings” (Phillips), and “Ave Maria” (BachGotinod). Here again she achieved another striking success. The “Ave Maria” (pia/io, organ, 'cello) was particularly well rendered. The melodious “Waiata Maori” and ‘The Cuckoo” (Liza Lehmann) were given as encores Finally Miss Buckman and Mr D’Oisly were associated in the duct from “L’Enfant prodigue” (Debussy), and in answer to demonstrative recalls the artists gave the Miserere scene from “II Trovatoro” and the finals of Act I of La Boheme.” During the evening Miss Buckman was presented with a beautiful bouquet. Mr D’Oisly sang “Mephistopheles aria” (Boito), and as encore numbers gave “When I was a Bachelor” and a French song. He also sang three bracketed numbers—“ Summertime on Brcdon” (Graham Reel), “Casey the Fiddler” (Haydn Wood), and “Sombrero” (Chaminadc), Each song

was finely given, and the audience clamoured for more, the artist replying with a composition by Mr Percy Kahn, given with excellent effect, and a humorous French song. The ’cello playing, by Miss Adelina Leon again met with the favour of the audience, and on each of her appearances she was encored. Her most successful numbers were the bracketed items “Slumber Song” (Schubert) and “Spinning Wheel” (Popper). The encore —a dainty lilting composition—was beautifully given. Mr Percy Kahn again played the accompaniments most

tastefully and artistically.
