The following are summaries of tlje Hospital Board reports to be presented at the next meeting of the board The Hospital Committee reports that the medical superintendent has commenced a "follow up’’ system for the various departments of the Dunedin Hospital Patient® coming up for re-examination are not to be charged a fee for the first attendance, but should any further attendance be necessary it will come under the ordinary charges; of the Hospital. The medical superintendent reports the accidental breakage by the radiologist of a 25rn.g. tube of radium. The question of the replacement of this has been referred to Professor Jack, honorary physicist, for report. The medical superintendent’s recommendation that the honorary staff bo asked to nominate a lecturer for the nurses’ surgical course, beginning on February 1, and his suggestion that instead of one surgical lecturer two lie appointed, to divide the work between them, had been approved. An application had been received from Messrs John Mill and Co. (Ltd.) for payment to the Railway Department of demurrage charges on coal supplied at holiday time, and instructions have been given to make application to the Railway Department to forgo this charge in view of the special circumstances. Requisitions for timber, hardware, splints, stationery, crockery, filing cabinets, X-ray and engineering requirements, and sundries for the Dunedin Hospital have been granted. Accounts amounting to £4063 Os 4d were passed for payment. The Sanatorium Committee reports that the engineer has been authorised to act in regard to overhaul of (lie engine at the Pleasant. Talley Sanatorium. Authority has been granted to the engineer to replace with iron the wooden supports of (he caloritier at the sanatorium. Accounts amounting to £637 9s 3d were passed for payment.

The Finance Committee recommends that accounts amounting to £32 8s for maintenance in, the Dunedin Hospital be placed in the bands of the board's solicitors for collection ; that authority be gran tori to refer to the Minister of Health the claim made on the South Of ago Harbour Board for charitable aid relief granted to a family, the South Otago Board having declined liability for more than £1 per week, which was considered insufficient. The secretary has been authorised to act in reference to the request of the clerk of the court, for a return in connection with the water-race license for the Louisa Roberts Hospital. The Benevolent Committee reoorfs having dealt with 28 cases for relief at a weekly co=t of £l6 15s 6d. Casual eases for relief amounting to £431 19s lOd were unproved. During the past month eight oersona were admitted to, six discharged from, and three deaths occurred at the Otago Benevolent Institution. At present 144 inmates remain. Accounts submitted amounting to £1667 15s lOd were passed for payment.
