The votes cast by members of the organisations affiliated with the Alliance of Labour are being counted in preparation for presentation to the adjourned annual meeting of the Alliance on January 25._ In Alliance circles there is a divided opinion as to whether a cessation of work generally is desirable as a means of protesting against the reductions in wages. “The strike weapon is obsolete,” declared a member of the Alliance to-day, “and as a, result of the election the workers may prefer to try further parliamentary action as a means of having their grievances rectified.’’
