ANNUAL MEETING. Tho annual meeting of the Otago Rifle Association was hold in tho Young Men’s Christian Association rooms lust night. Tito chair was occupied by Colonel E. R. Smith (vice-president . In the course of his opening remarks the chairman mentioned that this was the fortyninth annual meeting held by the association. Tho mooting last your was quite successful, and he was glad to see that a number of --oung shots were corning forward and taking good places. With regard to the programme, ho did not think anyone could accuse the association of permitting the old •shots to “scoop tho pool.” The committee hud always done its best to encourage tho young shots. Tho association was no doubt fulfilling its functions very well. They wanted to encourage the young shots as much as possible, because it was very desirable that all our young men should learn to use tho rifle. If ho had his way he would not allow a man to bo married until no had passed a tost in rifle shooting. Douglas), council—one representative Irom each rifle club in the Southern Command: secretary and treasurer, Mr M Kcich; lion, auditor, Mr Banncrinan; Programme Com-mittee-Colonel Smith, Messrs Silvius.l arsons, Bannerman, Mackie, M Kenzie, Johnston, and the secretary. It was decided that it be a recommendation to the Programme Committee to revise tho programme for tho next meeting.
