At tho conclusion of the Federal Cabinet meeting Mr Hughes refused to make any announcement regarding the Government’s future action. A caucus of the National Party to-day will discuss and probably decide the question of leadership. RABBITING FOE UNEMPLOYED. MELBOURNE, January 16. Following on the Government's action in sending Italian immigrants rabbittrapping, a deputation of unemployed asked Mr Warne (Minister of Lands) to give the unemployed the same opportunities. The Minister promised to extend the same treatment to the unemployed, a number of whom would bo selected, taught trapping, and sent to the same district as the Italians. WARSHIPS AT ADELAIDE. ADELAIDE, January 16. The French warship Victor Hugo has arrived. An official -welcome was given. THE AUSTRALIAN NAVY. SYDNEY, January 16. In the course of an interview Commodore Addison, commander of the Australian Navy, pleaded for c wider appreciation of the Australian squadron by the Australian people. He expressed the hope that the forthcoming Imperial Conference would decide on the naval policy. Commodore Addison said ; t was unfair that ihe men of the squadron should be made uncertain as to the future, as such feeling hampered them considerably in their work. SIR G. FULLER SAILS. SYDNEY, January 16. (Received Jan. 16, at 10.30 p.m.) Sir George and Lady Fuller sailed on a visit to England. They expect to return within six months. One of the chief objects of the Premier’s mission is to seek the British Government’s co-operation in immigration and the development of trade. Prior to his departure Sir George declared that the Government would stand or fall by its land settlement scheme.
