HULL WOOL SALES, Messrs Dalgoty and Co. report having received the following cablegram from their office, dated London, January 12: "Hull wool sales opened; attendance of buyers is good; competition animated. American and English buyers are the principal operators. Bulk of the offerings consist of crossbreds. As compared wtih last sale’s closing rates in London, merino wools Id to lid per lb higher; crossbred wools, fine quality, 5d to Id per lb higher; crossbred wools, medium and coarse quality, Id to lid per lb higher.” GRAIN AND PRODUCE. Messrs Dalgety and Co. report as under: Oats.—The demand 1 for grade oats continues, and values arc firm at late rates. We quote"; A Cartons, 2s 8d; B Gartous, 2s 6d per bushel, sucks extra. Chaff.—Good quality lines are in short supply, and the small quantity coming to hand is meeting with a ready sale. We quote; Prime oaten sheaf, £1 15s; good to best feed, £4 7s G.l to £4 12a.6d; inferior, from £2 15s per ton, sacks extra. Messrs Donald R.-id and Co. report; Oats.—There is a good demand for A grade Cartons at 2s 8d; B grade, 2s Gd ; under-grade, 2s to 2s 2d. Chaff. —Supplies are short, and tho market is firm.. We quote; Prime chaff, £5; good to best feed, £1 5s to £1 15s, sacks extra, Scott Bros., produce merchants and commission agents, agents for the Egg and Poultry Growers’ Association, Dunedin, report;—Eggs: FrcSh, lod, lid; circle stamped, Is to la Id per dozen. Butter: Dairy, Is 2d to Is 3d per lb. Honey: Prime clover, bulk, Gd per lb; 10lb tins, Gs to 6s Od each. Beeswax, Is Gd per lb. Fat, l,“a to 21s per cwt. Poultry: Hens, 2s to 3s per pair; ducks. 6s per pair; geese, 8s per pair. Turkeys: Hsus, S)d per lb; gobblers lOd per lb. Pigs; Baconers, Old; porkers, G-jd per lb. Potatoes: Oarnaru, 7s to Ss per cwt. Onions: To hand, Us per cwt. Chaff: Prime "oaten sheaf, £4 15s per ton, sacks extra; medium quality, over supply. Oats, 2s 9d pe-r bushel, sacks extra. Whole fowl wheat, 4s Gd per bushel, sacks extra. Straw: Pressed wheaten (quiet), £3; oaten, £3 10s per ton, ox store. Please note: Pigs anil poultry must arrive not later than Thursday mornings. We can supply petrol, motor lubricating oils and greases, lucerne and poultry meal, hulled oats, shell grit, Pareora meal, log rings, toe punches, charcoal, wire netting, Star brand chicken food and egg crates.
