GELIGNITE EXPLOSION. TWO MEN INJURED. (Per United Press Association.) PALMERSTON N., January 11. While blasting at tho top camp at Mangahao last evening, two men—A. Sturgeon and D. Gray—placed three charges of gelignite in tho tunnel. Two were heard to explode, and the men later wont back. Just when thev arrived tho third charge exploded, injuring Sturgeon in one eye and on the face and neck, and Gray in the face. Both were sent to tho Palmerston North Hospital, and are progressing favourably. FOUND DROWNED. (Pee United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, January 11. “Paddy” Moran, employed by Mr Semple’s parly at the Orongorongo tunnel, was found drowned in the river. Deceased, who was well known on tho West Coast, went shooting with some men employed on the work at tho tunnel, and did not return. The body was found by one of the men. Moran’s wife is in Sydney, and his father-in-law is working at Orongorongo. Tho body was brought to Wainui, where an inquest will be hold. MOTHER'S DEATH FOLLOWS SON’S. (Per United Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, January 11. Soon after receiving news this morning of her son’s death in a shunting accident, Hannah Vaux Boniface, an elderly woman, living at Sydenham, died of shock. John Boniface, tho son, was killed «fc Lyttelton last night, and this morning another son, who is living with his mother, went into her bedroom and told her the nows. She received a severe shock, and in less than an hour she died. It had been known for some time that Mrs Boniface had a weak heart. At the inquest a verdict was returned that death was due to shock, associated with organic heart disease. George Sanderson 15 years of age. residing with Fis parents at 68 Grange street, was admitted to the Hospital last night, suffering from injuries to his head, caused through being knocked down by a tramcar, while riding a. bicycle at the corner of Frederick and Castle streets.
