TROUBLE IN FLORIDA. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright NEW YORK, January 5. At Rosewood (Florida) 20 negroes and two whites were killed and many wounded in a night’s racial riots following on the lynching of a negro, who was concerned in an attack on a white girl. A score of blacks to-day were barricaded in a house which was surrounded by a mob of armed whites, who are awaiting reinforcements before attacking the negroes, who are heavily armed. Other bands of negroes throughout the district are also arming, fearing a bloody clash. State troops are held in readiness for instant action.—A. and N.Z. Cable. A FRUITLESS SEARCH. NEW YORK, January 6. (Received Jan. 5, at 5.5 p.m.) At Rosewood the barricaded negroes surrendered and permitted a search lor tn« negro who was guilty of attack on a white girl.
