WAITE MATA’S CREW LEAVE. (Per United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, January 5. The crew of (ho steamer Vvaitemata, which arrived from Calcutta on Wednesday night, gave notice to-day. They will bo replaced, and the vessel leaves for Wellington to-night. POSITION IN CHRISTCHURCH. (Per United Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, January 5. The seamen at Lyttelton held another mooting (his morning, but the nature of the business transacted was not divulged. It is freely rumoured about port, however, that the men are prepared to concede all the points, even to giving the required guarantee to abide by the award, if the present, non-nnion crews are removed from the steamers. THE LOCAL POSITION. WAIHORA’S CREW LEAVE. When the Union Company’s cargo vessel Waihora berthed at the Rattray street wharf on Thursday afternoon the crew received a visit from several local members of the Federated Seamen's Union, ’and as a. result several of them decided to join their comrades and cense work until an agreement can bo reached between the shipowners and themselves. The position is at present somewhat vague. The Waihora’s crew, ns members of the Seamen’s Union, were compelled to stand by the action taken by other union crews. This is the first time sine© the dispute that the vessel has visited Now Zealand waters. At present the Union Company’s officials are reticent, but it is hoped to despatch the Waihora to-day Tor Lyttelton, Wellington, and, Auckland. Her crew, who are on foreign, articles, were paid off yesterday, and a fresh crew ia now being engaged. After discharge of her Eastern cargo at Auckland (ho Waihora will go to Nauru Island to load phosphates for the northern port. IN AUSTRALIA. MASS MEETING ENDS BOYCOTT. SYDNEY. January 5. (Received Jan. 5, at 9.25 p.m.) A mass meeting of the Seamen’s Union decided to lift the boycott on the Union Company's vessels. The whole Tasmanian fleet will now bo manned, and the normal service resumed. The only doubtful question ir, whether the unionists will work with the volunteers, whom the company slates it will retain.
