In the next two sets Miss Lance indulged in accurate and forceful driving, combined with untakeahle back-hand crosscourt drives. Her services were too difficult to return, and Miss Mariano ost several points by netting, l^jecon 1 set was taken bv the Australian 6—2 In tho * hira and deciding set Miss Macfarlane lost, by her own mistakes.
