TEE WEATHER
The weather was dull and close yesterday morning, with a falling barometer. In tha ’afternoon a sharp earthquake shook occurred, but no damage resulted. About 6 p.m. steady rain set in, and continued lor several hours. (Per United Press Association.) GISBORNE, December 27. Ruatoroa messages state that on December 23 and 24 9.39 in of rain were registered at ■. airongotnai station, raising a big flood. Extensive damage was done to the construction work of the new bridge to span tha Vvaipa River. (Fbou Ooa Own Correspondent.! QUEENSTOWN, December 27. To-day dawned dull, and the morning was rather close. At noon a shower was experienced, followed by a light drizzle during the afternoon.
