The monthly meeting of the Otago Education Board was resumed yesterday, Mr J. Wallace (chairman) presiding. The Secretary reported that 43 relieving teachers had been employed during the month. Eleven teachers were on sick leave, and one was on ordinary leave. It was decided to apply to the department for a grant of £476 for the erection of a wall at the street frontage at the infant department at Anderson’s Bay, and to inform the department that the committee was willing to assist. A subsidy of £2 5s 4cl was asked by the Mornington Committee for strengthening the embankment in front of school ground. —Granted, subject to the usual conditions.
