A suggestion from the department which did not meet with favour at yesterday’s meeting of the Education Board was that all applicants for positions as pupil teachers or probationers should obtain any dental treatment required before presenting themselves for examination. “No candidate should require to be told by the examining medical officer that dental treatment is needed.” Members of the board considered that, as , there were vacancies for about only one-third of the applicants, it ■was not necessary to force expense for the others, there being time for candidates to receive attention when they were assured of a. vacancy.
