OTAGO MOTOR CLUB
The monthly meeting of the Otago Motor Club was held in the Returned Soldiers’ Association’s rooms last night. The president (Mr 11. IX. Halliday) occupied the chair. Mr Wright moved—“ That the Sign posting Committee should endeavour to arrange for one or two sign posts in the Tapanui and Gore districts.” The speako. referred to the need of n sign indicating the way out of Gore when coming north. He also stated that broken bricks of considerable size were being placed on the road immediately south of Pukerau. After discussion, Mr Wright withdrew his motion, and it was decided to place the matter before the Southland Motor Association. It. was decided to pass a vote of thanks to Mr A. C. M‘Gcorgo for his work in connection with the posting of signs on the Main North road, as far as Hampden. Mr F. W. Tndor, clerk for the Waikouaili County Council, wrote acknowledging receipt of £4O from the club as a donation towards the cost, of improvements of the Main road near W.aitati. Mr F. Meek submitted a syllabus of sports events for motor oars and motor cvcles. The first competition will take place early in February.—The syllabus was adopted. Five new members were appointed. The total membership now stands at just on 700.
