MAORI HILL SCHOOL

ENTERTAINMENT BY PUPILS. With the object of raising funds in aid of (he cost of the improvements to the children’s playground and the Clear generally', the pupils of the Maori Hill School presented another entertainment last' night in the local Coronation Hall, which was filled by a large and appreciative audience. The programme was both lengthy and interesting, and the children were heartily applauded for their efforts. Items were contributed by pupils of all classes, and in each case there was plenty of evidence .of careful training. In addition to the children there were one or two adult performers, who were also warmly received. The fol-

lowing was the programme submitted: Piano solo, “Ehapsodie Mignonne/’ E. J. M'Donald; song, “My Little Teddy Bear,” infants; recitation, ‘‘Susy,” Edna Stone; Indian dance, Edith M'Laren; song, “We dome from Fairyland,” and dance, infants; “Flower Song,” Standards 2 and 3; dance, infants; dance, “Rainbow Clog,” Annie Moore; “Spring Song,” Standard 4, and dance, Joyce Munro; recitation, “Which,” Denzell Duthie; piano solo, “The Romp,” Miss Maisie M'Donald; “Nursery Friends,” Standard 1; song, “Butterflies,” Standard 5; physical exercises, Standard 6; dance, Sean Truibhais, Isa Philip; “Cherry Song,” Standard 4 and Milly Shrimpton; song, ' “Beautiful Waves,” Standards 2 and 3; chorus and dance, “Peggy O’Neil,” Standard 6 and Annie Moore. Miss M. Graham was the accompanist.

In the course of the entertainment, Mr D. Thomson appealed for the support of the residents to assist in furthering the interests of the forthcoming Garden Fete, part proceeds of which are to be diverted to the benefit of the children’s playground, tennis courts, etc.
