UNDER GRADE WHEAT.

The conference also passed the following resolution:—"Seeing that there is a, feeling amongst the wheat-growers of South Otago that the Government graders are not taking some samples of wheat which in their opinion should pass as milling, wo respectfully ask the Minister of Agriculture to appoint a committee, or board, to inspect all samples offered, and any samples that in their opinion are fit for nulling the Government to purchase at the fixed price. Mr A. Craig expressed the opinion that the trouble in regard to wider-grade wheat had arisen because there was a surplus of wheat in New Zealand and a lot of the wheat had been turned down as undergrade that in former years would have been gladly accepted. He could not see that there was much chance of shipping undergrade wheat, as the London parity tor good wheat to-day was only equal to 3s od on truck at Balclutha. Mr J C Anderson said the Government were not likely to agree to the committee suggested, and advised growers to bold on till next season, when they might expect, to get a good price. Mr E. King (Clydevalo) said some seemed to think tho motion a reflection on the Government graders, but the farmers were not satisfied, and were only asking for a fair thing. They wanted a board consisting of a miller, a grain merchant, and a farmer to go over all the wheat; and in that they wer simply asking for something to which they were entitled. .
