CATHOLIC MISSIONS
Missions ore at present being conducted at St. Joseph’s Cathedral and St. Patrick s Basilica (South Dunedin) by the Rev. Fathers Herring and Eccloton, Marist missicners. The missions last week were exclusively for the women of the .two parishes, and wore concluded op Sunday afternoon, when both edifices wero crowded to capacity. The missions-for men were commenced yesterday morning, and will be continued throughout the week, extra seating being Erovided to accommodate the exceptionally trgo crowds in attendance each evening, 'liio Marist Fathers, who are successful xniaaiouars, specialise in the subjects of their discourses, and are everywhere famed for their eloquence, Selected by the heads of tjieir order because of their special fitness for the work of conducting missions, their labour* arc solely devoted thereto; and, as «o~ isequcnce, their services are much southl and their tvhold tithe fully occupied
