THE PROHIBITION ISSUE. TO THE EDITOR. Sib, —Of course we must say “.Thou shalt not drink” when we are referring to drugs and poisons.. Is not alcohol a narcotic poison? Poisons have their uses, but they are not allowed to be sold for the purchaser to drink them as he would any nonpoistmous leverages'. They must be sold only by a chemist, who is by law compelled to label the bottle as containing poison. Personally, I contend that we should not imprison the man who gets drunk, for if we, as a community, permit him to indulge too freely, is he really responsible? We should rather imprison the man who supplies the liquor and those who make the money out of it. “Continuance” refers to liquor being made in the open under Government supervision. In spite of such supervision, and sometimes by the help of it, pure liquor even for medicinal purposes is rarely obtainable.—l am, etc., G. S. Thomson.
