Major Carr, the Quest’s air scout, believes that the present methods of Polar exploration are obsolete. He says that in future it will be done with aircraft dnring the summer months. This view has been formed as a result of the Quest’s cruise. He adds: “Few people realise the mildness of the Arctic and Antarctic summers. A German airship of a modem type is capable of doing the return trip to - the North Pole from London within one week, and before long we will have Polar explorations without a year’s work and hardship.”—A. and N.Z.
