THE MONTHLY MEETING. ... The monthly meeting of the Red' Cross Society, held on Monday afternoon, was attended by Mr E. A. Rosevear (actingchairman), Mrs Geo. Roberts, Misses WuHams, RattraVj and Graham, Messrs G.; B. Smith, R. Conn, and C. height. , Messrs Rosevear and Speight, appointed, for the purpose, reported having gone into the matter of Montecillo requirements and advised the War Funds Office accordingly. Thev also advised this office that, as rar as the centre was concerned, there was rid overlapping of expenditure. _ A further letter was received 'front Brigadier-general Sir Donald MTlaviri,D.G.M.S., in reference to tho society .taking full control at Montecillo, with exception of medical officer. Following discussion, Mr Conn moved that “we agree with Sir Donald M'Gavin’s letter, the to be reviewed at the end of six months.” • This was seconded by Miss WilKams and carried. • : •’ • Regarding the supply of comforts to sok diet patients in Dunedin Hospital, on the motion of Mr Speight the meeting ;ap-, proved the change over from the Patriotic , Association to the Red Cross .Society as from August 1. This decision will involve a material increase in Red Cross expenditure. _ . , For the nursing scholarship the secretary advised that no applications had been, received by the centre. Miss Rattray and Mr A. F. Roberts were unanimously appointed to act as Otago s delegates to tho conference at Wellington. A letter was received from Lady JeUicoe, together with copy of a letter from Princess Mary, wherein grateful thanks' were returned to Red Cross workers for their splendid woddirur gift. Mrs Roberts furnished a satisfactory report in regard tp 'visiting soldier patients in Dunedin Hospital. The matron of the Montecillo Home reported that during the last month seven” patients were admitted and four discharged. There were at present S 3 patients in tho home. Misses Rattiay and Graham reported having visited die home and found everything working satisfactorily and > smoothly. • The treasurers, Miss Williams and Mr Rosevear, presented a satisfactory financial statement, which was adopted; and a number of accounts were passed for payment.
