REQUEST FOR REDUCTION. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, July 18. In response to a request by the Australian and New Zealand Agents’ Association for a reduction in freights on Australian produce, the shipowners replied expressing sympathy with the association’s desire for lower freights, but pointing out that a reduction would be possible only when the expenses incidental to steamers visiting, loading, and discharging at Australian and New Zealand ports are materially reduced.—A, and N.Z.
