HIGHWAY ROBBERY

SENSATIONAL HOLD-UP FAILS. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright SYDNEY, July 20. (Received July 20, at 11.15 p.m.) A sensational hold-up of the bilo construction paymaster was attempted between Ariah Park and Mirrool. The paymaster, Mr Hciffcrman, accompanied by Inspector Skinner, was carrying £3OOO pay for tho Silo workers at Ariah Park, Mirrool, and Kamarah. When nearing Mirrool a charge of shot was fired at their car from behind a tree, wounding the inspector in the face. The paymaster presented a revolver in the direction from whence the shot came. He saw a man running through the trees, but the occupants of the car, taking no risks, seized the money and took refuge in a nearby farmhouse. Two arrests were made.
