RECHABITES.

The annual installation competition between the Dunedin tents took place in the Oddfellows’ Hall, Kensington, kst week, when there was a fair attendance of Rechabites. Four tents originally entered. but owing to sickness and other unforeseen circumstances two of the tents were forced to withdraw, leaving the Star of the South and Hope of Dunedin tents to compete for honours. The first tent to .give the ceremony was the Star of the South, whose officers gave a very good rendering and gained the high percentage of 95 points out of a possible of 100. The task of defeating this tent was a difficult one set before the Hope of Dunedin officers, but an excellent rendering of the ceremony put their tent in a winning position, the number of points gained being 98. District Chief Ruler Bro. R. Farrant acted as judge, and was accorded a vote of thanks. After the decision Bro. Farrant gave a lecture on Rechabite work in general. As a special prize, in connection with the initiation ceremony competition, Bro. Farrant announced that he had decided to present an enlarged photograph of the delegates to the recent Jubilee Conference, held in Wellington, to the successful tent, and called upon Bro. D. Y. Gain, C.R., lo accept the photograph on behalf of the Hope of Dunedin Tent. Bro, Gain thanked Bro. Farrant for the gift, and also complimented the Star of the South Tent on the fight they put up. Prov. Chief Ruler Bro. A. V. Gain also complimented the winning tent on its rendering. . The remaining portion of the evening was spent in games.
