ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.

A MOTOR FATALITY. (Pee United Paraa Association.) HAMILTON, June 26. Mr Lewis O’Neill, of Tauranga, farmer, 40 years of age, was killed through a motor capsizing. Mrs Brewisj (wife of Dr Brewis), of Hamilton, was driving her oar, containing her sister (Mrs James Hill, of Wellington) and the deceased (who was her brother), from Hamilton East Cemetery, and when negotiating a sharp bend the car went off the edge of the road and capsized coming to rest upside down at the bottom of a 6ft bank. The occupants were imprisoned. Mr O’Neill was apparently killed outright, but Mrs Brewis and Mrs Hill escaped with bruises.

DISTRESSING FATALITY. YOUNG MAN POISONED. HASTINGS.. June 26. A distressing poisoning fatality occurred on Saturday evening in which a young married man named Michael J. Chaffe. oged 38, lost his life. Deceased and his brother Alfred partook of stout, mixed with what they thought was port wine taken from a port wine bottle on the side of the table. The bottle contained weed killer. . Alfred is still in a senous condition.

SHOOTING FATALITY.

NAPIER, June 26. Sidney Wardell, aged about 30 and unmaried, was found shot through the head at his farm at Kaiwaka to-day.. A shotgun was beside the body. His parents live at Christchurch. Inspector Dewe. officer in charge of tho Southland Police District, has received advice of the death of e man named James Horton at Dingle Valley, Hawea Flat, in Central Otago on Friday. . According to the message deceased committed suicide by shooting himself. Ho was 53 years of age, and had no relatives in New Zealand.
