TRAIN HOLD-UP
ATTACK on famous flyer. BANDITS ROUTED. COWBOYS IN HOT PURSUIT. Pzwa Association—By Telegraph—Copyright NEW YORK, May 15. The Golden State Limited, the crack passenger train from Chicago to Los Angeles, was stopped f at Tucson by eight robbers. Placing torpedoes on the track, they cut the train, in two, taking the mail car five miles along the line. When they prepared to dynamite the safe Harold Stewart, an express messenger, opened fire with a heavy rifle, killing one bandit and injuring two- others. The rest took flight. A posse of 100 cowboys are to-day pursuing them towards the Mexican border. —Reuter. - J NEW YORK, May 15. (Received May 16, at 8.5 p.m.) Eight bandits held up the Ohicago-Los Angeles express at James (Arizona). They uncoupled the engine and express cars and were about to blow up tlya safe when an express messenger shot and killed one of the robbers. The others fled.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
