(Received May 16, at 10.40 p.m.) Seven hundred Chinese students here are in dire straits owing to the failure qf the Peking Government to send supporting funds for the laet three months. The Japanese Government has refused to advance further loans. The Chinese Minister had never arrived, and the Charge d’Affaires disappeared last week, it is supposed to avoid the students, who are haunting the Legation.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
