(Pm United Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, May 16. ■The Canterbury, grain and piodnee markets arc practically unaltered from tlhe week-end report. A grade Garton oats are worth 3s 5d to 2s 6d at country stations; B’s, from 2d to 3d lees. White clover is firm, .and good clean farmers' seed is selling at Is 4d to Is 6d per lb. The cowgrass market is quieter, but quotations are unaltered from lOd to 12d. Partridge peas also are firm. Good lines are worth from 8s to 8s 3d to farmers. Potatoes are still depiessed, hut the bulk of the opinion is that a decided firming is probable. The South Canterbury crop is not turning out as, satisfactorily as was expected. Cocksfoot is still firm at a basis of Bid to 6d per- lb to farmers, sales at that figure being frequent for July-August delivery. Onions have firmed, and are worth £6 to growers, and a fair amount of business at that figure bos been done. Supplies in local growers’ bands are shortening. The local crop is more marketable this year, being a much better sample than_ for some seasons, and showing better keeping qualities.
