During' the invasion of Northern France the house of M. Brabant, a well-known bntterflv collector, who died in 1914, was looted by Germans, who carried away his collection valued at some £IOO,OOO. Part of the collection was received from Germany in 1919. and official inquiries are now being made with regard to the rest. • Venice is built on 80 islands, and has 400 bridges. The circumference of the city is about eight miles.
