COMMONWEALTH STEAMERS FOR , NEW ZEALAND SERVICE. {ft 1 '- • After .having been idle in Sydney Harhour for some weeks' two of the Common--wealth Government’s steamers, the Dundula ligand' Diomano, have been chartered and will

leave port within the next few days (says the Melbourne Argus of April 21). The charters were effected by Messrs Scott, Fell, and Co. Both vessels are fixed to load, coal at Newcastle for New Zealand, and they axe now being prepared for sea-. The Dundula arrived at Sydney on March 4 from Karachi ••via Fremantle, and the Dromana, which also came ' from Karachi, reached Sydney on March 12. The steamers are expected io make several trips to New Zealand with coal, so that they will bo employed for some time. CANADIAN GOVERNMENT DINE. Messrs H. L. Tapley and Co., local agents for the Canadian Government Line, have received advice of the following movements of steamers: The Canadian Constructor is due at Dunedin from Melbourne about May 12 to discharge and load wool and general cargo at xsluff, Dunedin, Lyttelton, Wellington, New Plymouth, Napier, and Auckland 4 OT New York, Philadelphia, Boston, Montreal, and inland points in XJ.S.A. and Canada. She is due at Lyttelton about May 15.. The Canadian Exporter is to leave Montreal on June 28 for Australian and New Zealand ports. She will be followed by the Canadian Spinner on July 28. The Canadian Leader is to replace the Canadian Planter on her voyage from Canada to New Zealand. The Canadian Miller is due at Dunedin from Melbourne at the latter end of May to load at Dunedin, Lyttelton, Wellington, Napier, and Auckland for New York, Philadelphia, Boston, Montreal, and inland points in U.S.A. and Canada. She is due at Lyttelton during first week in June. The Canadian Pioneer, en route for a New Zealand port, sailed from Papeete on February 4, via Australian porta. The Canadian Seigneur is due at Auckland on May 29 from Norfolk, and is expected to reach Wellington on June 2. The Canadian Spinner left Bluff on Tuea day afternoon for Melbourne to discharge the balance of her cargo at Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane. The Canadian Transporter left Vancouver for Australasian ports on April 15, and is due at Auckland on May 14, and at Wellington on May 19. The vessel will later leave Wellington, for Sydney, Melbourne, and Adelaide. HUNTINGDON AT WELLINGTON. The big cargo steamer Huntingdon, with about 5000 tons of general cargo arrived at Wellington on Saturday afternoon. The Huntingdon left London on March 17, and made a good run to Colon, where she arrived on April 3. The vessel passed through, Panama Canal on the following date, and left Balboa on April 4 for Wellington. A moderate to fine weather voyage was experienced throughout. The Huntingdon, which comes to the agency of the New Zealand Shipping Company, . will discharge at Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. The Huntingdon is a comparatively new vessel, built in Germany by the Bremer Vulcan Shipbuilding Co. of Vegesack, and was formerly the Munsterland. She was bought by Lord Inchcape and sold to the P, and jO. Company. .The Huntingdon is a vessel of 12,146 tons gross, and 7200 tons net, of the following dimensions;—Length 533 ft, beam- 64ft, depth '3Bft. Captain J. H. Gordon is in command of the Huntingdon, and his officers are: Chief, Mr R. V. Gard; second, Mr H. W. Dunlop; third, Mr C. Sutherland; fourth, Mr J. Jebould; chief engineer, Mr A. White; second, Mr P.
