ALLEGED FALSE PRETENCES
A SERIES OF CHARGES. (Fmm Ukithd Press Absooiatior.) AUCKLAND, May 2. Seven charges of obtaining goods by false pretences and one of having obtained credit by fraud were preferred at the Police Court against Albert Charles Lamb, 38 years of age. The total value of the goods, which were principally clothing, was £lO5 6s. As regards the false pretences, evidence showed the -accused represented himself as a Taumarunui business man, issuing cheques which were dishonoured. He had no business, but had a banking account. The statement by accused was that he did not know that the account was not in credit. He pleaded not guilty, and was committed for trial 1 ! On the credit by fraud charge he was remanded to Wellington.
