A deputation from the Otago Football Association waited on the committee with the request that the Uarisbrook Ground should be let to it for the Association match between Otago and Australia on June 14. and on June 17 for the test match between Australia and Now Zealand. —It was decided to reler the application to the Finance Commit, off. The’ Port Chalmers and King Edward Technical College Clubs were granted permission to enter fourth grade teams, and the Dunedin Ckib was granted permission to enter an extra fourth grade team. Stuart Thomson, Otago Boys’ High School, wrote as follows:—In accordance with the arrangement made with your committee a meeting was hold on April 26 at the Technical School, when the following delegates were present —Mr W. Alexander, Dunedin Technical School; Mr C. {,'. Robinson, Al'Glashnu College; Brother Bowler, Christian Brothers’ School; Messrs H. \3. James and G. S. Thomson, Otago Boys' High School. The following motions were agreed to unanimously. “Thai this meeting resolves, subject to the approval of the Otago Rugby Union, to form itself into a Secondary Schools’ Junior Rugby Association. Tlic object of this association shall be to promote a competition amongst the junior boys of these schools, especially for bovs unable to play in the presidents’ grade (fifth grade).” “That there shall be two grades' or sections namely, an A grade confined to boys of not more than Bst weight on May 1 in each year, and a B grade for hoys not more than 7st, on the same date.” It, was also resolved that Messrs Thomson and James draft a constitution and a set of rules. It is expected that some six teams will be entered in the A grade and eight or nine in the B grade, as follows: A grade—Technical School 1, Boys’ High School 3, Christian Brothers’ 2: B grade: Technical School 1. Boys’ High School 3. M’Glashan College 1, Christian Brothers’ 3 or 4. Other schools such as Port Chalmers and Mosgiel District. High Schools may join the association if they so desire. It is pro-posed that the first matches in this grade shall be played on Saturday, June 10. In connection with this matter Brother F. P. Bowler wrote ns follows: “Re the .secondary schools' competition, I have gone into the matter thoroughly and have come to the conclusion that the* competition will not. give a game to the majority of the hoys in the school. The primary boys interest mo ns well as the secondary boys. In order to give the boys who were debarred from the junior primary grades a game I have decided to run a private competition in the school. To make the competition interesting I must concentrate on that competition alone. Herewith I return the football sent to the school by your executive.” It, was decided to hold over the matter, and to forward Brother Bowler’s letter to the secretary of the newly-formed secondary Schools’ Association. . SATURDAY’S MATCHES. Owing to the necessity for a re-draw in the four and fifth grades Saturday’s matches will not bo annourced until to-morrow. ASSOCIATION. The usual weekly meeting of the Otago Football Association Executive, held last evening, was attended by Messrs E.> J. Anderson (chairman), Miluurn. Deuchrass, Duncan, Ruddiman, Simpson, Pike, MT.ennan, Irvine, Scott, Mackenzie, MTnnes, and the secretary. Mr- George Forbes waited on the meeting in reference to n challenge cup which Messrs Peter Dawspn’s (Ltd.) wish to present to the Otago Football Association, to be played for by teams in the South island. — the chairman thanked Mr Forbes, and informed him when the executive had decided as to how the cup was to be competed for the matter would be referred to him for his approval. The acting-secretary of the Otago Harbour Board wrote offering the use of an area for football at the rear of the Cement Works.—Left to Mr Deuchrass to arrange. An application by Old Boys to have their fourth grade team transferred to the third grade to take up the bye.—Agreed to. Mr L. 11. Scott, delegate to the annual meeting of the N.Z.F.A.. submitted a full report of the meeting. In connection with the visit of the Australian team, the matches to be played in Dunedin would be againstan Otago eleven on June 14 and a test match against a New Zealand team on June 17. Mr Scott reported that it was impossible to arrange for a match at Kailangata. -Mr Irvine brought up .the question of referees’ expenses in out-of-town matches. - It was decided to pay expenses for last Saturday’s-games at Mosgiel. Wailoti. and Seaelitt. and a further considation of the matter was deferred to next Monday’s meeting.
