The monthly meeting of the Xorth-East Valley branch of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union was held in the institute ori Thursday afternoon. The president (Mrs Peart) presided over the meeting, taking for her Scripture reading Isaiah yi. She gave a helpful address, emphasising the need for personal effort in temperance and other good work. After discussion of Various matters of interest the president gave,a brief outline of her visit as a deehate to the recent convention. She spoke in slowing terms of the delegates reception in Hamilton, and of the warm interest taken in the temperance cause in the North Island. ■lt was decided to hold over her report in detail till the next meeting (an meeting) to enable a number of young members of the branch to be present.
