GENERAL NEWS
The Rev. IT. L. Richards, who was appointed at the recent Methodist Conference to succeed Rev. R. Rainc as minister of the Cargill Road Circuit, has taken up his duties, and a welcome social was held on Thursday evening, Mr J. B. Shacklook (circuit steward) presided over a crowded congregation. Addresses of welcome were given by the Rev. M. A. Rugby Pratt (chairman of tho district). Mr D. C. Cameron (for the local preachers), Mr W. W. Ashby (tor the Sunday school), and Mr A. T. MTndoe (for tlie church). Responding to the welcome, Mr Richards paid a tribute to the work done by Mr Raine. Ho explained his method of work, and hoped that pastor and people would unitedly work for the good of God’s kingdom. During the evening a musical programme was provided by Mrs Fow, Misses Howard, Yboman. and Grant, Messrs Sincook and Simpson. Refreshments were provided by the ladies of the congregation. On Wednesday evening the Workers’ Educational Association held its weekly lecture on psychology at the University, the lecture and the disc.usion which followed being of profound interest. The Rev. L. G. Whitehead outlined the evolution of mind from that of primitive man to great nations, and devoted the chief part of His lecture to the psychology of the Parly times.
