At the Appeal Court, on the application of the Law Society, rules nisi wore granted striking the names of John Harold Kane, of Gisborne, and William Edward Hackett, of Auckland, off the roll of solicitors. The ground of application in Kano’s case was that he had been convicted on a charge of forgery and sentenced to 12 months’ imprisonment, an in Haokett’s case the ground was that ho had been guilty of misappropriating funds, and that while a member of a legal firm he had drawn cheques on the firm a trust account for private use. Costs amounting to 15 guineas were awarded against both men.
