(Fbom Oub Own Correspondent.) AUCKLAND, March 27. The Right Hon. W. F. Massey wears his years lightly. No one would think that on Sunday he celebrated his sixty-sixth anniversary qf his birthday. Soon after he arrived at the Grand , Hotel in the morning ho received a telegram from the Mayor (Mr J. H. Gunson) tendering him “Very Hearty congratulatiVms and good wishes from the citizens of Auckland. ' Otahuhu, through its Mayor, was another of the local bodies that sent felicitations. Many other telegrams of congratulations were received. During the day the Prime Minister received a large number of friends who tendered their good wishes in person, including the Speaker of the House of Representatives (Sir Frederick J. Lang). Although ho was away from home Mr Massey was not allowed to lack the customary birthday cake, a very choice one being provided by the licensee of the Grand. Among the telegraphic congratulations received by the Prime Minister was a message from “your old shipmates.” This refers to who came out with Mr Massey, then a lad of 14 in the ship City of Auckland, which was shortly at" rwards set on fire, or caught fire, while loading alongside the old Queen Street w'harf.
