Clemenceau’s Note in reply to Mr Lloyd George's 1919 memorandum, in which M. Clemenceau pointed out that to think of appeasing Germany was a pure illusion. The French policy was to help the new buffer States between Russia and Germany, M. Tardieu, in the same paper, adds; Mr Lloyd George was greatly irritated by this N°t ,e > and replied to it three days later; hut M. Clemenceau deemed it useless to make a rejoinder.—A. and N.Z.
