WAIPORI EXTENSIONS.
TENDERS FOR NEW GENERATOR. SUM OF £26,785 CONCERNED. When the fourth pipe-line, for whioh tenders were recently accepted, is erected at Waipori, a number of extensions to, the plant will be required for the development and distribution of the additional 3000 K.W of power. At the meeting of the City Council on Wednesday evening the Electric Power and Lighting Committee will report that it is now in a. position to submit a definite recommendation with respect to Uie tenders received tor various sections of plant required lor the extenuous at Waipori Falls and Half-way Bush sub-station. A certain amount of delay has taken place owing to the fact that it was necessary to obtain from many of the tenderers further detailed information with respect to their plant before comparisons could be made. The tenders, which the committee recommends for acceptance, are as follows, thg prices given being all on the basis of delivery in Dunedin c.i.f.e. duty paid: Water Wheel.—Messrs Boving and Company, England, delivery in seven months ex works £6,264 Exciter Water Wheel.—Messrs Boying and Company delivery in seven months ex works •• 931 Generator. —The National Electrical and Engineering Company, Duuedin, for plant made by tn© G.E. Company, U.S.A., delivery in five . months ex works 6,170 Exciter Generator.—The National Electrical and Engineering Company, Dunedin, tor plant made by the G.E. Company, U.S.A.. delivery in five months ex works 1,327 Step-up Transformers.—Metropolitan Vickers, Ltd., for plant made in ' England, delivery in six months ex works 4,332 Step-down Transformers. —Metropolitan Vickers, Ltd., for plant inode in England, delivery in six months ex works 4,749 Switchboard Material.—The National Electrical and Engineering Company, Ltd., Dunedin, for plant made by the G.E. Company, U.S.A , delivery five and a-half months ex works ... 1,753 Additional Switchboard Material.— Metropolitan Vickers, Ltd., for plant made in England, delivery in six months ex works 649 Irregular Pipes.—Messrs Stevenson and Cook, Dunedin 710 The total amount of these items is £26,785 Owing to the heavy weights that will require to bo handled at Waipori, tenders for a 25-ton travelling crane have also been received, and it is hoped that these will be ready for submission to the Council on Wednesday night.
