LIGHTING OF QUEENSTOWN.
ELECTRIC SCHEME PROPOSED. (From Oob Own Correspondent.) QUEENSTOWN, March 25. A public meeting was held last evening to consider a proposal to light the town by generating power from One Mile Creek, and in this connection to consider an offer from Mr W. 11. Paterson, of Oamaru, to instal an electric plant. An alternative was that Mr Paterson should run the plant for four or five years and sell tho current to Hie borough at a fixed price, the council then, having the option to purchase. The mooting authorised the council to have a survey made and Hie plans drawn up, when the scheme will te submitted to tho ratepayers. An approximate estimate sets down the capital cost at £SOOO.
